"Can We Tell Her??"

Is what Kika cryptically typed on my cell phone and quietly showed me.
Out of the blue, Gabi had asked:
"Is Santa real?"
The more I think about it, it makes sense that Gabi decided to ask me this as we were en route to their very first week long summer camp, 140 miles away.
Almost as if to say, if I am old enough for this, perhaps I am  old enough for that.
I was once more calling upon my inner thespian to pull off the deposit without a hitch.
I was acting calm, pleasant and matter-of-fact.
I did not want the girls to sense my anxiety, because I wanted them to have a great time.
I needed to drive away quickly.
The Santa question was, a slight snafu.
So, ever so slightly I shook my head to Kika and mouthed out: not now.
Although I am sure Gabi will be ready for this information when she comes back tomorrow from the maturing experience of sleep away camp, I did not think this was the case 6 days ago.
I deftly changed the subject.
Sometimes less is more.
And,  timing is everything.
