Steve got four tickets to a
Blown Glass Art Installation.
He said he would stay home with the girls while I took my parents and brother to see it.
"Steve, why don't I stay and you go" my mother offered.
Steve: "I would rather get a kidney stone than go see a bunch of glass."
Thanks for all the comments.
Have been busy cleaning, doing laundry in preparation for my departure.
(after all, I must leave my children with clean clothes)
Before I go--allow me to take you to a fantastic glass art installation by Dale Chihuly.
Check it out.
(pictures here)
See if it whets your appetite to see some very fanciful bongs...or allow the pictures to save you the admission ticket if ever any of his exhibits come your way.

Amazing! Yes, I would have loved it.
HOW GOOD IS THAT? galing-galing-galing! I do have one blown glass artpiece...guess what...pipa:)Courtesy of Peter the Pied Piper, PTY LTD, NNSW.
Why don't I see a giant champagne glass in the exhibit? Yay! :)
Did you know that at one point the Venetians wouldn't let the glass blowers of Murano off the island, so closely guarded were the secrets of glass blowing. And now Steve can't even feign interest. Reminds me of Dave Chappelle's quip: "I was sitting at the opera last week and thought, Look how much work it takes to bore me."
In New Orleans we went to a glass factory for art glass. It was amazing and I got a lovely pair of earrings! I cherish them!
When do you leave, where are you going and for how long? Whll you write?? =]
you are so lucky! I would have loved to go to this exhibit :D
Ang gaganda !
Teka, going where nga ba? Phils?
Wherever your traveling feet take you, be safe!
Saw this same exhibit at Fairchild Tropical Gardens in Miami...those pics look like you all might have been there as well save for the jackets?
I was pretty amazed by the whole thing simply because O and G made it through the whole thing without breaking a Chihuly piece. I didn't breath for about two hours.
You see CHARISSA, I know what you like.
And AKO--what pray tell do you use your glass pipe for and why do you not share?
hey ABANIKO, nag mountain climbing ka ha. sige, kayo kayo nalang...
RON, Steve loves Dave Chapelle.
Fitting quip I must say.
KATE and GINA--
I leave tomorrow, and will be back on saturday and will be in NYC.
my parents and Steve will hold down the fort, kids and Junior in my absence.
My travel stress is kicking in...am starting to feel sick...
have to prepare four lunches X2, because for some reason--I am the only one who can do this exactly the way the girls like it...
JMOM--kamusta na! how have you been?
and CCE--you are so good to have brought your kids.
I told the kids that "kids are not allowed"
clearly your kids will turn out more cultured than mine...and happier too with your halloween decorations up ;-)
wow, ang ganda nga. ive never seen glass made into something like that ever. ang nakikita ko lang na blown glass yung gagawing wedding souvenir :)
goodness...they're beautiful. I love picture #17 and #25 :)
Wow. Rather have a kidney stone? That's severe.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful bongness with us. :)
Nge. We should have invited you! Okay, next week do come. We're mountain hiking again. :)
i love art pieces especially unique or new media :)
There's a lovely one here in the new Ellie Caulkins Opera House, it hangs elegantly over the lobby and is considered one of the finest points of the entire remodel.
Very lovely.
Thanks for the smile!

would definitely buy tickets to see those fanciful bongs! i would love to buy them. :)
Awesome works of art! I think they are way better than getting kidney stones..;)
My wife and I went to a store that had a bunch of his things for sale while we were in Hawaii a couple of years ago. They were like $17,000 for something as big as a hat. We talked with the salesman for an hour or so and took his card. After we left we were like, "17 grand! Ha ha ha!" If we had 17 grand to spend on a glass paperweight, sure. They were cool, but a little out of our price range and too big for me to shoplift under my t-shirt.
Maybe I should write that salesman and apologize.
thanks for sharing those lovely pix, if they ever come my way, i'd still go and see it, ang ganda!
That was an amazing installation - must have been fabulous to walk amongst all that glass sculpture!
