Life's Tensions

(Charlane Castaneda and the exskindiver, Boracay 1992)

skin divers were initially motivated by the practical aspects of the sport:
1.explore marine life without the price of scuba diving.
2.dive as often as desired (scuba divers must wait in between dives to avoid the risk of decompression illness).
initially motivated.

now it is about smug satisfaction.
sort of like thumbing one's nose at the scuba diver you "accidentally" bump into at 40 ft deep. there is an incongruent pleasure the skin diver gets as he fins by leisurely despite his bursting lungs.

Such is life's tensions.

acting blase about things we actually put a lot of thought into.
disguising our cares.
pretending it is all effortless.
