On My Mind

"When you've lost a lot of people in your life, the value of a goodbye, a see you, or showing that you care really becomes a big deal.
It becomes a bigger deal as you grow older and are reminded time and again that moments are fleeting, and life is too short. Thus, when a loved one flies off to some place, or whenever at the close of a meeting, be it social or professional, make sure to give a proper send off, or a warm goodbye/see you because you never really know if there will be a next time.
Genuine love and caring means checking in on the person, like a parent does for his or her child, and vice versa; as the beloved to the loved one; as a dear friend to another. "Mom/dad, I'm home safe", "Please text when you've arrived", "Take care. Let me know as soon as you get in", "Take care. Until we meet again" are only some of the many ways to manifest that care and concern for the other.
Death, like love comes all too unexpectedly so be kind. Be constant. Be affectionate. Make each parting beautiful so that in case there is no next time, there won't be any regrets. Make the words matter. Let each moment count."
