July

My dad was a chain smoker when I was really young.
He gave up cigarettes on his own--well sort of on his own--as I am sure he had my mother torturing him out of love.
He told me that in order to successfully quit, he went and watched back-to-back movies at the movie theater simply because smoking was not permitted.
In a darkened theater, with nothing else but Hollywood to distract him and a pimply theater clerk to police him, he detoxed from nicotine.

Yesterday our kids left again.
This time they are at Nana Camp.
I drove them 75 miles to their Grandmother's house.
I passed a Dairy Queen on my way home and did not stop for a strawberry milk shake.
I had an appointment I was racing home for.
-------------
Steve and I had a meeting half a mile from where the city's baseball team plays.
After our thing, we walked up to the stadium just to see if we could purchase good seats.
As we were standing at the end of a pretty substantial line-
A woman approached us and handed us two tickets as a gift.
Big smile.
They were great seats.
-----------------
Today I will go for a run.
With my children being gone there is just not one reason to be distracted from my goal of having a healthy body, mind and spirit.
I'm also hoping to be able to go and see a movie tonight.
And maybe have a milk shake.
