Lent

"I find that it is usually best to wait until the second smoke alarm has gone off before you take the pizza out of the oven.
Hastily taking it out after just the first alarm could result in a pizza that - like Pennsylvania roads in late winter - still has frozen patches that aren't obvious at first glance."

It was a pathetic excuse for supper.
While the children were wordlessly chewing their 'not quite done' frozen pizza,
Steve inquired not unkindly, "Was it the smoke alarm that made you turn the oven off?"
Gabi added quite plaintively, "When is Auntie Chari coming home?"
My sister-in-law Chari left for Rochester to help take my Dad to his Radiation treatments and other oncology appointments.
I smiled at my family bravely and told my two daughters, two nieces and one husband to hunker down as survivor week is upon us.
This family could give up eating Chari's gourmet meals while my Dad's illness is being managed.
A circumstantial Lenten sacrifice, if you will.
If all else fails, take-out is just a phone call away.
