“Be not the slave of your own past. Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hot Water
photo lifted from Voltaire's travels.
Although all the bathrooms in the house I grew up were equipped with showers,
our water pressure deteriorated to a pathetic piddling.
Water collected in a huge plastic pail and scooped with a dipper--was how I became accustomed to bathing.
Despite the warm temperature, water that stood overnight in a pail was cold in the morning.
Very Unpleasant.
And there was no good way to ease into this.
Whether it was a slow pour or an abrupt drenching--it was ugly either way.
For this upcoming trip to Manila, I want to stay in the house I grew up in despite its flaws.
But Steve is rallying for a hotel stay.
He asks: Is a hot shower too much to ask for when one is on vacation?
